Happy Saturday!
I noticed in the comment section of my last post that a few different folks commented on eating radishes alone stating that they never thought to do it. And the truth is we don't usually eat them alone either. Sometimes we do, but they often get tossed next to a bed of rice & beans or are incorporated into a larger salad like this tofu salad shown here.

By the way, this salad is quite delicious, and I am posting it b/c it is my Cauldron Boy's favorite salad;-)
Here's the recipe, Dearies:
Tofu Salad for 2
1/2 Block Organic, Firm Tofu (patted dry & sliced)
1 3/4-2 Tbsp. Low Sodium Soy Sauce
1/4-1/2 Tsp. Toasted Sesame Oil
Red Pepper Flakes
Fresh Cilantro/Scallions
Lay out your tofu on a plate. Be sure that you have dried it well with clean paper towels. Slice and set up your tofu as desired (I like to also pat the individual slices a bit with a clean paper towel but this optional). Drizzle the soy sauce and sesame oil over the top. Sprinkle with cilantro, scallions, and red pepper as you please. Then surround with the prepared radish salad.
Chill for at least 10 minutes and enjoy!
Stella, this looks delicious! I'm a radish eater through and through.
ReplyDeleteDid you get a new camera, or have you fixed the old one?
By the way, thanks again for helping me figure out how to backup my blog. :-)
hey Stella,
ReplyDeletenot only is this delicious, but needless to say, BEAUTIFUL too! it's been a while since i've had radishes and i think it's time i start eating them again. funny that you posted these two posts on radishes too cause K has been asking me if she can try them. she thinks they're strawberries (or at least taste similar), boy is she in for a surprise...haha. maybe if i slice them thin enough she might not notice...teehee. you always eat so healthy, Stella. Cauldron Boy is very lucky to have you making his meals for him. hope you both have a wonderful weekend! also hope it has stopped pouring over there ;-)
I looooooove tofu! I usually cook it but I have been eating raw more and more often now. This tofu salad looks great... even my husband (who doesn't really like to eat healthy... a constant struggle of mine!) would love this!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a beautiful weekend, Stella. It's raining over here!
Hello Stella!
ReplyDeletethis is a lovely quick tofu dish that I am going to try soon. and for now I am clicking to your previous post, I am very curious to read about radishes! In France and in the part of Switzerland where I live, they are mostly eaten alone, with a little tiny bit of salty butter and a slice of bread!!
Stella, this is indeed a very fresh, healthy, and delish salad!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore tofu! As a child in Korea, I would walk to my tofu-making-neighbor to buy warm tofu! Great looking recipe, Stella.
ReplyDeletelike brussel sprouts, i havent ever had tofu... looks like you are introducing me to so many new things!!
ReplyDeleteLove this healthy combination; lovely photo. Will have to add this to my grocery list;now if only I can convince my husband that tofu is good!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely salad and a nice contrast of textures. I love tofu and just had steamed tofu for lunch. It's so delicious and satisfying.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast of colors and textures in this salad. Nice! Hope you're having fun with the new camera and computer!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of mixing up the textures and this would be great for that, its also a bit of a looker this dish isn't it. Love the colours & even though I'm not a big fan of Tofu..., I'd have a dabble for sure :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious...I have never done a salad with soy sauce, but I like the sound of it :)
ReplyDeleteAnd it looks fantastic!
I love the simplicity of this recipe...the tofu and radishes must be an amazing combination.
ReplyDeleteI echo what the others have said...you must have a new camera? Your photos are crystal clear!
OMG, this plate is stunning...Cauldron boy has fab tastebuds, I love the simplicity, but wow is it packed with flavor!!
ReplyDeletesweetlife
have a great weekend!!
If that is cauldron boy's favourite salad, you are one lucky Kitchen Witch, as it is about as easy as it gets! I can just not get into tofu. What brand is good. I have tried enough and quit. I like to make what I eat. Can I make my own? Have you tried making paneer? It takes about 20 minutes and would definitely be good in this salad... but is probably not as nutritious as tofu...
ReplyDelete:)

...don't know whether it's right or wrong, but radishes -- I think they're cancer fighting agents. No proof. The taste in my mouth intuitively tells me so.... P
ReplyDeleteHi Stella
ReplyDeletewhat a very nice tofu salad! I love radishes, but its one of those veggies I never seem to buy, and as for eating them alone, we had a garden when I was a boy and radishes were always planted, my favorites use to be the icicle ones! Just a little salt and a lot of crunch!
Hope you had a great weekend!
Dennis
Looks great Stella and so healthy too
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh!! Stella! I REALLY want to make this gorgeous salad. And the name - "soy stained tofu"?? I have been eating soy doused tofu my whole life and I wish I had come up with THAT name!!! :D Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour salad looks delicious and healthy. :) I rarely eat raw tofu (except for silken tofu in desserts or sauces), but with your spices, this looks good!
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while, but I have come to love tofu and I am always looking for new recipes. This looks great, with the sharp bite of the radishes!
ReplyDeleteFabulous presentation, Stella! How could anyone resist? Still not a complete tofu fan, but this one is tempting me!
ReplyDeleteThat dish looks good! Nice presentation.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Rosa
Oooo, Stella! That is a gorgeous salad! I'll make this for my vegetarian sister-in-law this week!
ReplyDeleteThe salad looks gorgeous, especially with the radishes. Also, I've never never thought to have tofu uncooked before, though with the soy/sesame dressing, it would absorb the wonderful flavours, wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteA healthy dish! And it kinda reminded me to go "simple" in my upcoming dishes!
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to convince my daughter that tofu can be quite delicious. This is such a pretty salad too! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! ;)
ReplyDeleteI jump at the chance to buy any type of radish in the market, I just found some pretty long pinky red ones that went into a roasted veggie/faro grain salad. I should eat more tofu as I love it too! Your salad looks fresh and delicious. Have a nice Thanksgiving Stella:)
ReplyDeleteThis is super healthy meal Stella! I'm one of them that don't really eat radish sald! I think I only try pickled radish. Wow you guys eat so healthy. It sounds good with a "stain" on the tofu! Happy Thanksgiving Stella.
ReplyDeleteI like that you're posting even the most simplest recipes. You should post everything you make. You'll be surprised how many people are interested in meals you probably think aren't "blog worthy" as I like to say.
ReplyDeletemmm I looovee how simple this is! I'm not big on radishes but I do adore soy sauce and tofu. This sounds like the perfect way to use up the block I have in my fridge.
ReplyDeleteYour Cauldron Boy is one smart fella...of course he is because he's with you! But he also has good taste in food. This looks so good and I can't wait to try it. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
ReplyDeleteThis salad looks beautiful and sounds like a great way to use radishes! I don't usually eat radishes by themselves, either. I hope that you and Cauldron Boy have a lovely Thanksgiving weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Stella! This salad is beautiful and so healthy! The contrast in colors is gorgeous. I eat radishes alone, but I need to start adding them to dishes like this. I bet they add a lovely crunch.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to try Tofu, someday....this looks amazingly good!
ReplyDeleteI love the layout of your website and the contrast in your pictures...Several of your recipes look amazing. Not sure which to try first
ReplyDeleteStella what beautiful shots! The salad looks amazing and I bet it tasted amazing too. I love radishes and am really enjoying your radish recipes. I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving :)
ReplyDeleteYour radish salad beautify the tofu dish. Beautiful color!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and Cauldron Boy!
ReplyDeleteI thought the tofu was a flat bread that you folded like an accordion before I read your title!
I eat tofu but I have to have it cooked. I don't like the texture when it's in its raw state.
My Stellita,
ReplyDeleteThis salad is great...I'm beginning to learn about tofu because I started going to "lessons" with a japanese lady !!! As for the radishes, I eat them alone, with mini carrots...My kids love that!! Ah, and your photography..amazing!!!
I discovered raw radishes last spring - with a smidgen of butter, a little sea salt. Occasionally I'd put it on a bit of baguette.
ReplyDeleteThe salad sounds delicious. I've got tofu on hand, but sadly no radishes.
